EasyFrame Saw Software V3 Overview

Installing

The new installer looks like this.

You don’t need to uninstall the old software versions anymore, however, if you are upgrading anyone from V1.2.0.3 or older, we highly recommend uninstalling it as it’ll lead to confusion for the customers and possibly cause issues.

The new installer doesn’t support Windows 10, it only supports Windows 11. If you try to run it on a Windows 10 machine, you’ll get this error.

This is intentional and we are taking this opportunity to get everyone updated to Windows 11 as Windows 10 is no longer supported.

Error message box stating 'This program does not support the version of Windows your computer is running' with an OK button.

When you open the new EasyFrameMachine.exe file, you’ll get a pop-up about the software running a script to migrate your old user.config to the new location and new format. The user.config file will no longer be the user.config file and it’ll now be config.xml and it’ll be located in
C:\ProgramData\EasyFrameMachine\Libraries with all the other settings. No settings will be user-specific anymore.

When you run the installer, you’re also going to get these other applications installed. They will be located in C:\Program Files\EasyFrameMachine.

Distant Desktop, Remote Utilities Agent, and TeamViewer are all remote control software.

Backup.bat is a script you can run manually to create a backup of all the users’ settings files. Whenever you run a new installer, this will also automatically run. The backup folder is located where the .exe file is, and it’s named “Simpson Backups”. In that folder, it’ll have a date and time of when the settings were backed up. In that folder, it’ll have all the settings a user would want to back up.

This makes upgrading, downgrading, and testing very easy as you’ll have automatically stored backups for each version for that user.

V3 Saw Specific Updates

EasyCut Saw utility is no longer compatible. Anything you previously did in that software can now be done in this software.

Machine I/O UI looks different, as well as adding Manual Actuations. Both are located in More > Diagnostics.

Saw and pusher speed is not located in the software anymore. The setting is now located in C:\ProgramData\EasyFrameMachine\Libraries and they are now called TuningValues.csv. If you need to edit these values (which you shouldn’t need to), you can edit the csv file accordingly.
